On September 1, the South Korean government announced that all visitors coming from 112 visa-free countries are now required to get a Korea Electronic Travel Authority (K-ETA) prior to entering the country. This is to shorten the entry process in their borders by doing away with the filling out of an entry form and instead, allow travelers from qualified countries to register their personal data and other travel information on the K-ETA website. The K-ETA which is valid for multiple entries over two years, will also be a requirement before flight tickets are issued.

Due to the current travel restrictions in place, this new program was only rolled-out initially to 49 countries including the US, the UK, Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, to name a few. As for the remaining 63 visa-free countries, including Asian countries, only Priority Entry or business applicants will be accommodated.
