Josh Campbell once said, “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”
April 23 marked the 70th year when Filipinos and American fought side by side to liberate our homeland from foreign invasion. As I write this, I could only reflect on what have I really done for my country? What actions have I taken to show my sincere love for the Philippines?
From the Wreath Laying, to the Twenty-One Gun Salute, and to the Unveiling of the New Plaza Cuartel design, I could not help but be moved to tears.
As I looked around, I could only utter words of gratitude to those many brave men and women who willfully sacrificed their lives so that our generation can enjoy the freedom they wished for us.
Now, the challenge for our generation is, “How can we preserve the legacy these heroes gave to us with their lives?”
