Japan welcomes back independent foreign travelers!
What is NEW when visiting Japan?
► ERFS or Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System is no longer required.
► Guided tours are no longer necessary. Travelers may now do their usual free and easy tours.
► Face masks will be optional but strongly advised to be worn in crowded public places.
Quarantine and Vaccines
After October 11, 2022, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan will accept tourists who obtain the valid vaccination certificates with three (3) doses. COVID-19 certificate test will also be no longer required provided that travelers comply with the following 3 requirements that includes:
1. The certificate must be issued by a government or public institution. For the vaccination certificate to be valid, it should be issued by one of the following; Japanese government, local government, or medical institution. Other vaccination certificates are; “Vaccination Certificate of COVID-19,” “Certificate of Vaccination for COVID-19,” or “Record of Vaccination for COVID-19.” Any equivalent certificate from the documents stated above may also be acceptable.
2. The following must be shown in Japanese/English: Name, Date of Birth, Vaccine Name/Manufacturer, Date of Vaccination, The number of doses administered.
- If date of birth is not included in the certificate, it may still be considered valid if it contains your passport number or other information that can be used to verify that the vaccination certificate is yours.
- If the vaccination certificate is in a language other than Japanese or English, it may be considered valid if it is accompanied by a Japanese or English translation and the content can be confirmed.
3. The certificate mush show that you have received 3 doses of any of the following vaccines

• For the JCOVDEN intramuscular injection/Janssen and CONVIDECIA/CanSino Biologics only in case of primary series, one dose is considered equivalent to two doses.
• Doses will also be considered valid even if each dose are not the same vaccine.
